大学英语作文 篇1

Teachers often get a chance to evaluate their students. Now the situation has changed. Schools allow students to evaluate the work of their teachers. This causes discussions about whether teachers should be evaluated by students. The views vary from person to person, and I prefer to say yes to this act because it provides a good way for teachers to learn their disadvantages and improve the quality of teaching.

Firstly, it’s a good way for students to express their opinions about teachers and lectures. From the expression, teachers can learn their advantages and disadvantages, which is important to improve their teaching skills. Secondly, students often evaluate teachers by doing some questionnaires, which are questions and selections on the paper, ranging from teachers skills to homework arrangement. Teachers can get much useful information from these questionnaires. Besides, the evaluated result will be submitted to school leaders who will judge whether the teacher is qualified or not. Finally, students will be motivated to pay more attention during classes and to listen to lectures more regularly, since they will be asked to give their own opinions about what they’ve heard. Of course, when students do the evaluations, they should be objective and impartial so that the evaluated result can be more useful and persuasive.

From what has been discussed above, we may confidently come to conclusion that teachers should be evaluated by students.

Hello, everybody, this is Ellie speaking, I am so happy to be here 。 Today, I”d like to talk about my general experience during my three university life which is so important for me , cause I have learn so many different friends through the nation and so many various reasons from everyone around me and happened to me as well !

The more you lean you more you understand

You will receive a body simply, if you are always living in a small group。 So , I advice people around me to walk around when it is possible 。 To be frank, my study life with the junior and senior middle school was simple and boring, yet , it is true that I had got quite a few normal sense and relevant knowledge from the great sum of books during the six years, and I think I was most happy without any anxious ,too, although the study work load was heavy。 However, never mind , that was one of the components of my life, I thanks to it and so glad to experience it !

Perhaps , this is the very begging part for me to enter into college study, from then on , I would be faced with a new world ! There , I met lots of new things and people and created many special ideas I never thought of before! So , I say , this EllieTan cannot be caught up by that EllieTan three years ago!

There is never enough time, unless you are serving it。 Well, this was quite a different world for me , I had to deal with everything on my own, yet, please take a look at other people , they were so familiar with everything and got rid of trouble easily and quickly。 I realized that a new challenge was waiting for me 。 But in fact, I was glad to be confronted with it 。 I liked the new environment of this sort, I knew it was time I should grow up from then on。

On the side of my new life , academic association , student union and different kinds of activities around me everyday , things like that 。 Furthermore, on the other hand , college library, self—access study room, it is never associated with my life before, even I never thought of it would be one of my important life in the campus。 But the truth is quite different in the reality opposite with your illusion。 Is that right!

Yes, I admit that I had "wasted" a lot of time on the relevant activities within the association and student union, and I didn”t know the exciting and foundation of the self—access room , what was more, I even laughed at my dormitory mates frequently visiting there。 But this is life that it”s easy to do the things you have thought of incredible ever before。 It is me , too!

But , I”d like to explain that although it wasted most of my private time with various sorts activities in my first year in the college , yet it is valuable you”ll find in the later, this is the thing we call "experience" which you would find profitable in the future。

When you cease to dream you cease to live。

How time flies! One year passed, but I never feel empty with my campus life cause I have received the things I” d like to get。 Yes, in my plan, that it is the high time I should concentrate on my academic courses seriously!

And it is the ordinary situation for people that when they experience to some degree, they want to plunge into another stage。 I have recognized the interest of my own that I am more outstanding with my English speaking, all the time, I focus on its practice most and spend much more time in the practice of it without consciousness。 And I have developed the habit that every day I would woke up at 6 o”clock and practiced one hour oral English by the lake in the campus before going to have classes at 8 o”clock in the morning。 Under this point , I have also laughed at by others ,too, but I never feel influenced cause it is my interest in and my habit which have been developed for many years。 Therefore , I won”t give up!

These days , when you interview any jobs , the interviewer must ask you the question without any changes that whether you have got the CET—4 certificate。 Don”t feel confused that”s true, cause somebody think you are not able to express between English and Chinese or you are not in position to go on any business involved with English at all without the certificate。 General speaking, CET—4 is the base you should take along bascally。 But I wonder usually whether it is the truth。 However, in my own opinion , I am not for this saying , to some degree! What a pity, however, I cannot change everything。

So, under this situation, I have to join the group of student who are always paying visits to the library and self—access room。 But things are so interesting and special when you contact it。 I like studying there from then on 。 perhaps you will feel alone when you just have to stay in front in the table reading textbooks one by one and the lighting is so dime, but soon you will discover that it is enjoyable to staying in the self—access room the whole night where the room is so spacious and the lighting is good enough, however, another essential factor will be that the other students sitting around you play quite am important role , for they make you have the power to stay up which is the essential motivation on the study road 。 Yes, that the key point , study in the self—access room , you are able to get a sort of quiet and happy study atmosphere, meanwhile , the normal competition, too, cause you won”t feel sleepy in the sight of hard word from others staying behind you 。

As time goes by, I have developed another habit reading books in the self—access room and getting more relevant knowledge in the library buildings。 I don”t know whether it was my progress I have made during the process, but I am sure the success of my CET—4 cannot depart with the time I spent on the self—access room in the library every night, and later , the CET—6, too。

Perhaps you won”t image that I have made many good friends there as well who are the good student always connected with the library。 However, it seems that they are boring keeping the books the whole day, don”t forget, they are ordinary people just like us。 When you have a talk with them , you can get a warm welcome, a further communication can be developed。 I always think this is a piece of good work , cause what is the significance without communication among people。 One thing we should understand , different people have different ideas and experience , then, the more you talk with others the more life knowledge you can get 。 This world is changing all the time, you are unaware of the matter happen to you in the next second。 Just like a normal saying " the road to success is a course of preparing for it " , I agree with it so much!

This is june in 20xx which is special month for me , on the one hand, for the 20xx German Football World Cup is coming , the whole globalization is crazy for it, and I an a football fan at any rate。 Yes, I like football。 And on the other hand , for I am going to graduate form my college formally。 Three years , no matter happy or unhappy cases, I still insist on it and believe in it that is rewarding。 So many incredible things happened to me , all of them are challenging and rewarding! And I would like to praise myself that "Ellie, good job!"

Finally, I have to express it once more that "thanks to my parents my teachers and my college and the alumna , alumnus know or not , cause all of your support and I have learnt so many form you! Thanks to the college library and self—access room and the campus ,too, for I get so many happiness inside you!"

Well, thank you for your time listening to me !

大学英语作文 篇4

Stacia Robbins

According to a recent poll, 61 percent of American high school students have admitted to cheating on exams at least once. It can be argued such a response my not mean much. After all, most students have been faced with the temptation to peek at a neighbor's test paper. And students can be hard on themselves in judging such behavior. However, there are other indications that high school cheating may be on the rise.

More and more states are requiring students to pass competency tests in order to receive their high school diplomas. And many educators fear that an increase in the use of state exams will lead to a corresponding rise in cheating. A case in point is students in New York State who faced criminal misdemeanor charges for possessing and selling advance copies of state Regents examinations.

Cheating is considered to be a major problem in colleges and universities. Several professors say they've dropped the traditional term paper requirement because many students buy prewritten term papers, and they can't track down all the cheaters anymore.

Colleges and universities across the nation have decided to do more than talk about the rise in student cheating. For instance, the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland launched a campaign to stop one form of cheating. As 409 students filed out of their exam, they found all but one exit blocked. Proctors asked each student to produce an ID card with an attached photo. Students who said they'd left theirs in the dorm or at home had a mug shot taken. The purpose of the campaign was to catch "ringers," students who take tests for other students.

The majority of students at the University of Maryland applauded the campaign. The campus newspaper editorial said, "Like police arresting speeders, the intent is not to catch everyone but rather to catch enough to spread the word."

We frequently hear about "the good old days", when Americans were better, happier, and more honest. But were they more honest? Maybe yes, a long time ago when life was very different from what it is today.

School children used to know the story of how Abraham Lincoln walked five miles to return a penny he'd overcharged a customer. It's the kind of story we think of as myth. But in the case of Lincoln, the story is true … unlike the story of George Washington and the cherry tree. Washington's first biographer invented the tale of little George saying to his father, "I cannot tell a lie. I did it with my ax." What is important in both stories, however, is that honesty was seen as an important part of the American character.

And these are just two stories out of many. Students in the last century usually didn't read "fun" stories. They read stories that taught moral values. Such stories pointed out quite clearly that children who lied, cheated, or stole came to bad ends.

Parents may have further reinforced those values. It's difficult to know. We do know that children didn't hear their parents talk of cheating the government on income taxes - there weren't any.

A clue as to why Americans may have been more honest in the past lies in the Abe Lincoln story. Lincoln knew his customer. They both lived in a small town. Would a check-out person at a large supermarket return money a customer? It's less likely. On the other hand, would overnight guests at an inn run by a husband and wife, steal towels? It's less likely.

Perhaps this tells us that people need to know one another to be at their honest best.

The vast majority of Americans still believe that honesty as an important part of the American Character. For that reason, there are numerous watch-dog committees at all levels of society. Although signs of dishonesty in school, business, and government seem much more numerous in recent years than in the past, could it be that we are getting better at revealing such dishonesty?

There is some evidence that dishonesty may ebb and flow. When times are hard, incidents of theft and cheating usually go up. And when times get better such incidents tend to go down.

Cheating in school also tends to ebb and flow. But it doesn't seem linked to the economy.

Many educators feel that as students gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, they are less likely to cheat. Surprisingly, some efforts to prevent cheating may actually encourage cheating - a person may feel "they don't trust me anyway," and be tempted to "beat the system." Distrust can be contagious. But, so can trust!

大学英语作文 篇5

since the first grade in primary school, we began to take pe lessons at least once a week. unfortunately, until today i'm still not used to it as i'm supposed to be.

thursday has been the darkest day of the week to me because early in the morning, i have to rush to the gym to attend the compulsory lesson on mulan dancing.it seems that my week both begins and ends on that day.you may say that i'm too fussy, but it's true.

i'm not the kind of people who are too stubborn to give up the quest for truth, but every time i ponder upon the meaning of pe lesson, i find there're various reasons that lead me to regard it as something really strange.

first, i'm questioning whether the whole premise is corfeet. let me show you an eample. as we all know, there's a test known as the discuss throw.when i was in senior high school,a girl, one of my classmates was 15 centimeters higher than me and weighed twice as heavy as i did. whenever she was tested on it, she could make a perfect score with ease while i was there trying my best to pass it.then the idea struck me that maybe it was not fair to apply the same criterion to us. athletes are divided into different groups according to their weights and heights in sports competitions, so why don't we do the same in pe lessons? well, i know these feeble suggestions of mine are of no avail. i still have to make every attempt to pass it.

the second strange thing is that almost all my pe teachers know my name.generally speaking, there're two kinds of students with whom the pe teacher is familiar. the first kind is those who always perform the best and the second kind is just the contrary. of course, i'm not so naive as to believe that i'm among the first group. i still remember clearly that in one of the classes, during a long jump test, everyone of us was given two chances to make a better score. when the considerable proportion of the girls had jumped twice, the teacher still encouraged them to have a third or fourth try. "come on! you can do it better!" she said to them. "they had already done a good job." i said to myself. at that moment, the long jump test was of great importance to me because once i passed it, i could get an average of 60 in all the tests in the pe lesson or i would not be able to pass it as a whole. when it was finally my turn to jump, the teacher seemed to be nervous herself. she stopped talking with others, held her breath and waited for me to do it. though i was all of a flutter, i tried my best. "great! ecellent!" she shouted"you made it!" well, not bad, i passed it and might get 65, i guess. "you just made a breakthrough!" apparently my teacher was quite satisfied with me. but not before i went to the start to have my second try, she had asked another girl to jump.oh,was she so ecited that she forgot to let me jump twice or wasn't she confident enough to let me jump again? i had no idea. never theless, i did make a giant stride in sports, maybe it was not a very convincing success, but i loved it.

the third strange thing is the long distance race. ever since i had to do it years ago, it has always been a catastrophe to me.i guess it's the biggest reason why i hold a dread of pe lessons.

a nice sunny afternoon would suddenly turn out to be a doomsday for me when the teacher announced the date for us to take the long distance race test.usually we're required to run 800 meters in 4 minutes, and any word about 800 or race can carry me away during the week before it. though there's generally a bleak prospect ahead, i still cherish illusions about passing the test. i'll spend a whole night before the race trying hard to conceive a strategy that enables me to succeed in the test tomorrow.i'll try to put any suggestions from friends into eecution. in a word, i'm on the brink of falling apart. at last, i catch on why we think of the long distance race as a test on one's endurance.involuntarily i keep on telling myself: buck up ! give it your best shot. you may fail the test but you can at lest console yourself with the thought that you've tried your best! the point is that things aren't usually as bad as they seem to be. i'm grateful to my friends. it was their friendship and encouragements that got me through these dark moments.

taking into account all these factors, it seems i don't really dislike pe lessons. i believe destiny has willed it so. the eperiences about pe lessons have become a part of my memory even though they are beyond my understanding sometimes.
